The Women's Counselor believes in easily affordable mental health care.
We offer a sliding scale and scholarships for all of our services. Additionally, many churches are willing to work with us to help you defray the cost of counseling. You are welcome to come as often as you need at a cost that is reasonable and affordable for you.
We do not participate in insurance plans. While we respect counselors who do participate in insurance plans, we are concerned that insurance companies have too much influence on mental health care. Even though insurance can help people get the help they need for a time, insurance companies dictate the duration and type of care offered.
Did you know that if you participate in insurance, the counselor must give you a mental health diagnosis in order to be paid? What if you simply need guidance or have questions? What if your "problem" does not fit the DSM-5 criteria? How do you feel about being assigned a mental health diagnosis just to have insurance cover the cost of the counselor? What if you need a different type of counseling or need counseling for a longer duration?
Remember, your diagnosis stays on your health record.
An individual may get to the end of their insurance coverage (usually 6 to 12 appointments depending on the insurance coverage) and still need counseling. They will be charged a rate usually between $125-$150 per hour, which is not easily affordable for most people.
At The Women's Counselor, we believe that an individual should be able to choose the method and the amount of counseling they need at an affordable cost.
We send a Paypal invoice which is due before the appointment. The payment is not deposited until after each session. If you cancel the appointment, your payment will be held until you have your appointment. If you cancel and do not reschedule, your payment will be refunded.
You do not need to have a Paypal account to pay your invoice.
An email with a link will be sent to you and you pay as you would any other online bill.
We ask that you please cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, if at all possible so that someone else can schedule an appointment for that time. You can notify your counselor by simply emailing email@example.com and leaving a message.
If you cancel in 24 hours you will be charged a $35 fee
Cancellation on the day or a "no show" will be charged the full rate.
In the case of an emergency, or in case of illness of either you or someone you care for, please notify me as soon as possible. Thank you.

If you wish to be considered for this adjustment, speak with your counselor so that an adjustment rate can be determined.
This entire process needs to be completed prior to your initial session. Demonstration of financial need is based on yearly income, extraordinary medical or legal expenses, and total family size, via a federal income tax form, line “adjusted gross income.”
